Good morning, my friends! Hope you’re all geared up for an amazing week. Today, I want to share a story with you about something close to my heart—helping clients get outstanding results. Not only does this make a difference in their lives, but it keeps you fired up and fulfilled in what you do. So let’s dive into a case study that shows just how powerful it is to be both a coach and a student.
Here’s the deal: as much as I love coaching and mentoring, I see myself as a student first. Back in 2016, I was in a place a lot of you might recognize—ready to break out of the box and do something different. That’s when I joined Marketing Impact Academy. It wasn’t just another course; it completely changed the way I approached my work and helped me build the foundation for what Smart Success Healthcare is today.
This experience taught me that to become the best coach, you have to stay open and humble as a student. I want to pass along some of the things I learned that have helped me serve clients better than ever. Whether you’re in a training program or reading a new book, these steps can make any learning experience count—and help your clients reach new levels.
I often hear people say, “Oh, that course didn’t help me.” Here’s what I believe: every course has something to teach if you go into it with the right approach. For Marketing Impact Academy, I did things a bit differently, and maybe you can try these steps too.
Step 1: Listen First
The first time I went through the course, I just listened—no notes, no distractions. I absorbed it all, keeping an open mind and letting the information sink in.
Step 2: Take Notes and Plan for Action
The second time around, I took detailed notes and thought about how to put them into action. I asked myself, “Who is going to do this?” Sometimes it was me, sometimes my team, but the key was to start doing.
Step 3: Execute and Review
This is where the magic happens. I took action on the notes immediately, tested each strategy, and refined as I went. This approach turned knowledge into real, actionable steps and made a difference in my business and my clients’ success.
It’s easy to feel like we’re the ones with all the answers, but staying a student means always looking for ways to improve. Our job as healthcare professionals isn’t just to “fix” problems; it’s to give people solutions they can keep using. Just as I applied the strategies I learned to help build SSHC, I want you to apply this mindset to help your clients break free from limitations and achieve lasting results.
Imagine what could happen if you approached every learning experience with the idea that it could help your clients reach their full potential. You’ll find that what you learn—and share—can completely transform your work and the impact you have on others.
Helping others starts with continuously learning ourselves. If we’re able to learn and adapt, we’re able to show up for our clients in ways that matter. So here’s my challenge to you: think about the last time you invested in yourself, in learning something new. How did you apply it? How will you apply it next time? Let’s keep pushing ourselves to get better for those we serve.
So, are you ready to approach this week with a fresh, student mindset? I know I am. Let’s go make it happen!
