Just Because It’s Hard Doesn’t Mean God’s Not In It

Last week, my daughter asked me a simple question that hit me hard:

“Dad, what’s God teaching you right now?”

At first, I thought I’d give her some surface-level answer. But the truth? God’s been showing me something real:

On the path to your blessings, there will be barricades.

And if I’m honest with you… the past few months have been filled with them.

Let me break this down for you.

Right now I’m in Indian Rocks Beach, finishing up one of our vacation properties before we hand it over to the management company. My wife and I have been running around nonstop — guests just left our SkyView unit, cleaners canceled, so guess who’s cleaning? Us.

Oh, and tomorrow we’re driving back to Orlando, then heading out again to Blue Ridge, Georgia to serve two waves of clients over the next 10 days.

We’re busy. And we’re blessed.

But the blessing didn’t show up without resistance.

Let’s talk about Blue Ridge.

If you’ve been there with us, you already know. That cabin has been life-changing — for my clients, for our team, for my marriage.

It's the kind of place where you can finally hear God because everything else goes quiet.

But before we ever got the keys to that cabin?

It almost didn’t happen.

We were two days away from closing and the lender backed out. They said the area was “too rural” and that it wouldn’t make money.

Wild, right?

Fast forward to today — 88% occupancy and generating enough income that we can serve more clients without raising prices. That cabin is working for the business, not draining the business.

And yet, right before the blessing showed up, I almost walked away from the deal. The stress, the back-and-forth, the constant requests for documents had me done.

I literally said to my wife, “I don’t have time for this. I’m out.”

But it wasn’t a “no” from God. It was a test of obedience and endurance.

And the crazy thing is, this has been the story again and again:

• With SkyView, our first rental here in Indian Rocks Beach, it was the same. Paperwork drama. Sick family. Delays.

• With Bayshore, our family home turned vacation property — we didn’t just move… we moved twice and had to fully renovate.

• And now, every single one of these properties is producing — not just for us, but for the mission.

Because here’s what most people don’t get…

Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean God’s not in it.

Some of y’all are praying for a breakthrough, but the second resistance shows up — you think God is saying “no.”

But what if He’s not saying “no”?

What if He’s just asking, “Can I trust you with this blessing?”

What if the barricade is the filter? The thing that keeps people who aren’t serious from stepping into what He’s trying to give you?

I’m not telling you this to flex.

I’m telling you this because if you’re hitting barricades right now — in your business, your health, your finances, your family — I want you to understand something:

God’s not trying to block your blessing.
He might be building your capacity to carry it.

You’re praying for abundance, but can you steward it when it gets messy?
You’re praying for financial freedom, but can you handle the stress that comes before stability?

The answer isn’t always to walk away.

Sometimes the answer is to press through the barricade.

This week, that’s what I’ve been reflecting on.

Not how easy God made the process.
But how faithful He was through the fight.
