Yo, what’s up, y’all? Greg here.
Let’s talk about something that a lot of healthcare professionals are thinking about but most get completely wrong—building an online membership for passive income.
I know the dream:
✔️ Recurring revenue
✔️ A thriving community
✔️ Helping people without trading time for dollars
But before you go all-in, let me break down what ACTUALLY makes a membership work (and what will make it flop).
Right now, I’m in Skyview with a group of 10 business owners. Seven are here in person, three are virtual. And let me tell you—every single one of them has a different business model.
A pediatric OT clinic owner doing $2M a year, integrating cash-based services
A dietitian who makes money through blogging and teaches other dietitians to do the same
A pelvic health therapist with four locations across three states
A cash-based PT who gets 70% of her revenue from memberships
A PT specializing in skiers with a 200-person membership
A PT/OT duo with a 1,500-member documentation membership
A non-therapist clinic owner shifting into membership-based aquatic therapy
All different. All successful. And that’s the point.
Most people start with the wrong foundation. They think:
🚫 “I’m a PT. I should start a membership for PTs.”
🚫 “I do cash-based services, so my membership should be for cash-based therapists.”
No.
Your membership has to be built around a clear value proposition. What’s the benefit? What’s the transformation people will get?
The people in my mastermind aren’t all the same profession. They aren’t all in the same business model. But they are all solving a common problem.
That’s how you need to think.
Before you start:
1️⃣ What problem are you solving?
2️⃣ Why should people stay month after month?
3️⃣ Are you attracting people who will actually pay for ongoing support?
If you’re just throwing content into a group and hoping people stick around, you’re building a subscription, not a membership. And guess what? Subscriptions get canceled.
But when people see real results inside your membership, they stay.
A successful membership isn’t about slapping a price tag on a Facebook group. It’s about creating so much value that people can’t afford to leave.
So before you go all-in, ask yourself: Am I building a membership people need or just one I want?
If you want to do this right, I can help. Let’s talk.
Much love,
