There are two businesses in my life that changed everything — my income, my freedom, my family’s future — and I almost walked away from both of them.
Not because they weren’t working.
But because the way I was working… was killing me.
Back in 2005, I bought into Renewal Rehab. I was $180,000 in debt. No patients. No safety net. Just me, my wife, our baby girl, and a dream that felt way bigger than our circumstances.
And yet, I was happy.
Why? Because for the first time ever, I got to treat patients the way I wanted to — not the way corporate told me to.
But fast forward a few years, I was working 50–60 hours a week. I had finally crossed 7 figures in revenue… and I was still drowning.
I was exhausted. Burnt out. Sick.
I didn’t feel free anymore. I felt trapped by the thing I built to give me freedom.
And I almost quit.
We sat at the kitchen table and said, “We can’t do this anymore.” I even entertained offers to sell it.
But you know why I didn’t?
Because every offer required me to stay for three more years.
Three more years of trading time for money. Three more years of sacrificing my health and family.
I knew that would kill me. So I said no.
I asked myself a new question:
What if I don’t quit… what if I just stop doing it the way I’ve always done it?
That’s when I stopped treating patients.
That’s when I rebuilt Renewal into something that worked without me.
And that decision — to stop being the product and start building the system — became the foundation for everything else.
No SSPT. No SSHC. No 5,000+ clients. No $20M+ in education impact. None of it happens if I quit back then.
Back when I launched my first online coaching program, nobody believed it could work.
Nobody thought you could teach healthcare professionals how to create digital income streams.
There were months where I questioned myself. Thought I was crazy. Felt like walking away again.
But this time, I remembered:
It’s not about quitting the thing. It’s about reinventing how you do the thing.
And guess what?
That’s exactly what thousands of healthcare professionals in my community have done since.
Ask yourself this instead:
Is what you’re doing really the problem — or is it just the way you’re doing it?
You don’t need to quit your business.
