Every year around this time, I’m usually checking out of the host hotel where we’ve held SSHC Live. That room’s still fresh in my mind—the energy, the people, the breakthroughs. But this year, I’m not there.
This was supposed to be SSHC Live weekend.
And yet... here I am. Not doing the event. Not on a stage. Not hosting hundreds of incredible healthcare professionals.
I want to tell you why.
Because there’s a lesson in this—not just for me, but for you.
I knew something had to change. I knew it last year, even before the 2023 event started. I even said to myself, “This is the last one. Something’s not sitting right.”
But then I walked into the hotel. Laura Turner was there. The community showed up big. And all that energy? Man… I got swept up. Again.
After the event, reality set back in. I had to face what I’d been putting off: I was burnt out.
Not just tired. Not just “needed a nap” kind of fatigue. I was carrying the weight of trying to pour into everyone, build something unforgettable, and keep pushing at a pace that no longer felt aligned with my life or my purpose.
I love SSHC Live. Always have. It brought our people together. It gave them clarity. It changed lives. And it helped people get into our programs in a way that made sense.
But when I looked at it from a business standpoint? We had spent over two million dollars across the years. And I didn’t own a thing from it.
I’m always telling y’all to build assets.
Meanwhile, I was cutting massive checks to hotels that I don’t have a single stake in.
That disconnect hit me hard.
Especially after I lost two of my clinics in 2023—not because the business failed, but because I didn’t own the buildings. The landlords sold the properties, and I was out.
That was a wake-up call.
So I started asking different questions:
What if I could create the same transformation in a smaller, more intimate space?
What if the right people didn’t need a big stage to decide—they just needed a living room?
What if I hosted events where I owned the space?
That’s what I’ve been doing the last couple of years at my Blue Ridge and Largo properties. And you know what? It’s working.
Not only are people getting better results...
👉 We’re seeing 75% of attendees join our higher-level programs (instead of 10% at the big events).
👉 They’re getting clarity, momentum, and wins faster—because the connection is deeper.
And I’m not drained. I’m fulfilled.
SSHC Live wasn’t a failure.
It was a win.
But it was a win for a season.
And sometimes, as entrepreneurs, as leaders, as believers—we’ve got to be willing to release something that’s still “working” in the world’s eyes in order to walk fully in what we’re being called to do next.
Over the past few months, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes—things in my life, in my marriage, in my family.
Things I wouldn’t have had the space to address if I kept the pace I was running last year.
And I’m just gonna be real with you: no success is worth sacrificing what matters most.
So if stepping back from a big event gave me time to step forward in my family?
It was worth every penny I didn’t make.
You don’t need to burn out to build up.
You don’t need a giant stage to make a massive impact.
And if God is nudging you to let go of something—even if it’s good—it might be because He’s got something greater waiting.
But you’ll never see it if you’re too busy holding onto what used to work.
You’ve got to be bold enough to walk away.
Much love,
Greg Todd
